Hi, I’m Megan McKay, a speech-language pathologist and the founder of Flying Cloud Speech Therapy. I’m passionate about early language development, AAC, gestalt language processing, social communication, and speech sound development - but honestly, what matters most to me is connection.

I believe communication is more than words. It’s closeness, play, movement, curiosity, shared joy, side glances, silly moments, and “you and me” energy. That means therapy with me doesn’t look like drills at a table - it looks like real-life engagement, on the floor, at the park, in the kitchen, or wherever your child communicates best.

Like many SLPs, I didn’t start out with all the answers when it came to AAC or supporting complex communicators. I learned by asking questions, listening deeply, learning from families, staying curious, and refusing to accept approaches that didn’t honor the child in front of me. Over time, I found frameworks that matched what children already show us: Communication grows when they feel safe, seen, and supported - not corrected or controlled.

My therapy style is:

• Child-led and play-based

• Movement-friendly and sensory-aware

• Respectful of all forms of communication (spoken words, sounds, gestures, AAC, scripts, echolalia — all of it is communication)

• Collaborative with caregivers and teams

You are the expert on your child. I’m here to add tools, perspective, partnership, and support. We’ll build goals that make sense for your family, and we’ll practice in ways that feel natural and doable in your daily routines.
